Pregnancy Prepare and Strengthen

Would you turn up to a marathon having not trained?

Exercise in pregnancy:

  • Is safe (if done with correct abdominal bracing techniques)

  • Has been shown to shorten labour

  • Is an important physical and mental preparation for labour and birth

  • Is important regardless of how you are birthing. If you are having a caesarean it is major abdominal surgery. You want to be as healthy as you can be going into it so that your recovery is efficient.

This course is designed and recommended for all pregnant women regardless of whether you have had children before. I recommended commencing it as close as possible to the start of the second trimester. 

Course Aims:

 

Understanding of and ability to measure and track:

  • Abdominal Separation (diastasis recti)

  • Pelvic floor issues (too weak or too tight)

  • Poor posture 

Prevention and/or healing of:

  • Diastasis recti

  • Pelvic floor issues

  • Pelvic organ prolapse

  • Poor posture 

 

Enable you to safely exercise in pregnancy and provide you with modifications you may need to make to your current exercise program

Teach you correct core activation that can be applied to any exercise no matter what you are doing or where you are doing it, throughout life

Prepare you physically and mentally for labour and birth by providing you with techniques and strength

 

Decrease pregnancy related pain and issues

Stretch out those muscles that need to relax for birth

Have you moving functionally in pregnancy, postnatally and throughout life

​Includes:

  • A 45 minute face to face class each week for 10 weeks

  • 3 live exercise videos each week – these are provided in a closed facebook group and you will have continued access to them even after the course finishes

  • Theory content as well as practical exercises to help strengthen and prepare muscles needed for labour, birth and motherhood

  • Theory content is emailed to you so you can refer to it later or during another pregnancy

  • Practical tips for labour, birth and the postnatal period

  • A six-week postnatal exercise guide to aid your recovery post birth

  • Continual support from me via phone, email or messenger

  • The same knowledge as the core and floor course so you can transition into the postnatal period knowing how to heal your body best (and not have to do any other courses)

Courses run in conjunction with school terms and are located in Bairnsdale. 

Cost: $120 ($40 deposit required to secure your spot – places are limited)

**please bring your own yoga mat and fit ball to each class**

You will also need a letter from your Dr stating that you are able to participate in exercise.
